This book cover design was created for Penguin Random House’s best-selling children’s book ‘City of Stolen Magic’. The book is set in 1855, in colonised India; a young girl with magic sets off on an adventure to Victorian London to save her mother.
The cover design was inspired by the folk art called Pattachitra. Elements of the art form were used to inspire and inform the design. The idea for the design was to use folk art of the region from which the young girl is from and to bring historical elements of India to the forefront of the design.
